I Grilled 8 Different Marinated Meats From Trader Joe's, And There's One That Seriously Stood Out (And Another I'd Never Buy Again)
Trader Joe's is the best sous chef for grilling season.
I’ve known many busy families and entertaining enthusiasts who swear by Trader Joe’s marinated meats section. Typically, my husband, Nick, and I are fans of marinating our own meats with fresh citrus, olive oil, vinegars, herbs, and spices. But recently, I’ve become curious about these Trader Joe’s pre-marinated meats my friends and family swear by.
Trader Joe's Pre-Marinated Meats
They come packaged and ready to cook, which is especially appealing for spontaneous spring and summer gatherings or upcoming holidays like the Fourth of July, when I’m on the hunt for something flavorful but easy. So, I visited my TJ’s, stocked up, and got to grilling (well, Nick got to grilling; I taste-tested and took notes).
Trader Joe's Pre-Marinated Meats Ranking
Here’s each item, along with my thoughts, ranked from my least favorite to my top pick:
8. Pollo Asado
7. Pesto Chicken Breast
6. Al Pastor Diced Pork Shoulder
5. Balsamic Rosemary Beef Steak Tips
4. Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Chicken Tenders
3. Beef Skirt Steak
2. Savory Herbed Chicken Thighs
1. Chicken Shawarma
Final Thoughts
A quick caveat: We’re more chicken people than beef people and rarely cook steak at home, so if you’re a big beef person, you might rank some of these differently. That said, even after a second taste with this in mind, the chicken still won for us. (Your results may also vary depending on your grill setup.)
So now I’m curious: Which Trader Joe’s marinated meat is your go-to? If you’ve made any of these on the grill, in the oven, or another way, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Happy marinated meats season, friends!
